USA Artistic Swimming Names 2026–2028 Olympic Training Squad, Taking First Step Toward LA28

USA Artistic Swimming has taken its first step toward the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028, naming its 2026–2028 Olympic Training Squad and establishing itself as “LA’s Team.” By narrowing its athlete pool earlier than any other Olympic sport, the organization is setting the tone for a focused and intentional build toward competing on home soil in just two years.

In the lead-up to this weekend’s selection camp at UCLA, athletes progressed through an eight-phase evaluation process to earn eligibility for Olympic Squad consideration. Designed over several months by USA Artistic Swimming coaches, high-performance staff, and athlete representatives, the selection system was built to comprehensively assess each athlete’s technical ability, endurance, artistry, mental resilience, and adaptability under pressure.

 

Throughout the weekend, athletes were evaluated across eight distinct components:

  • Basic Skills
  • Interviews
  • Individual Team Technical Swim
  • Acrobatics
  • Artistry
  • Team Technical Group Swim
  • Free Routine Choreography
  • Free Routine Choreography (Adaptation Round with last-minute changes)

 

Following detailed scoring and extensive video review of each athlete’s performances, both individually and within group routines, the selection committee finalized the roster for the 2026–2028 Olympic Training Squad.

Over the next two years, this group will train full-time in Los Angeles, building cohesion and refining their performance as they prepare for the Olympic Games on home soil. No additional athletes will be added to the training squad during this period, underscoring the commitment and focus required to reach the podium in 2028.

With the squad now set, USA Artistic Swimming looks ahead to an exciting new chapter defined by growth, unity, and the pursuit of excellence as “LA’s Team.”
