USA Artistic Swimming Mourns the Loss of Elliot Schwartz
by Kennedy Shriver
Artistic Swimming is deeply saddened by the passing of Elliot Schwartz at the age of 59. Elliot was a cherished member of the artistic swimming and broader Olympic and Paralympic community, whose passion, expertise and support left a lasting impact on the sport and the people within it.
For USA Artistic Swimming, Elliot served as a Data and Factors Analyst, bringing his knowledge and expertise to the Senior National Team and helping support the team through some of the most pivotal moments in its recent history.
His work was rooted in performance and innovation. For the past four years, Elliot’s “day job” was in performance innovation for the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee, where he worked with U.S. teams across the acrobatic sports. During the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, he supported teams in gymnastics, diving and artistic swimming.
But to those in the artistic swimming community, Elliot was so much more than his role.
His passion for the sport was evident in the countless hours he dedicated to following, analyzing and supporting artistic swimming. He attended multiple Artistic Swimming World Cup competitions and was a familiar and enthusiastic presence on the pool deck, always invested in the athletes and their performances.
Elliot was also known for being one of the first people to celebrate the team after a success. Whether it was a major international result, a breakthrough performance or a pivotal moment on the road to the Olympic Games, Elliot was there cheering, congratulating and sharing the excitement.
His contributions may often have happened behind the scenes, but their impact was felt throughout the artistic swimming family. He brought together his expertise in performance with a genuine love for the athletes and the sport, becoming a valued part of the USA Artistic Swimming family along the way.
Elliot will be missed by many throughout the Olympic and Paralympic community. More than his professional accomplishments or contributions to sport, he will be remembered for the incredible human he was; the kindness, enthusiasm and genuine care he showed to the people around him.
USA Artistic Swimming extends its deepest condolences to Elliot’s family, friends, colleagues and the many members of the Olympic and Paralympic community who had the privilege of knowing him.
If you’re interested in attending Elliot’s burial, it will be held Thursday, October 1 at 11:00 a.m. at:
