The Role 

Are you passionate about inspiring athletes to reach their highest potential in a fun, competitive, and supportive environment? We’re looking for an enthusiastic Artistic Swimming Assistant Coach to join our team and lead athletes to success both in and out of the pool. You’ll play a key role in shaping the next generation of artistic swimmers. You'll lead practices, choreograph routines, and travel with athletes to competitions, fostering a culture of excellence, sportsmanship, and personal growth. 

This position is ideal for a motivated, creative, and organized professional with a strong background in synchronized swimming and a commitment to athlete development. This is a full-time, fully on-site position at our club in Portland, OR. 

 

What You’ll Do 

Provide Leadership & Develop Athletes: Coach, inspire, and encourage swimmers toward competitive excellence. Lead and monitor in-water and land-based training sessions for assigned squads. Foster a positive, disciplined, and sportsmanlike environment for athletes. Maintain ongoing communication with swimmers, parents, and staff via email, phone, and meetings. Assist in tracking individual swimmer goals and monitoring progress. 

Develop Choreography & Music Editing: Creatively choreograph routines as assigned by the Head Artistic Swimming Coach.  Edit music tracks for routines and performances. 

Competition Travel: Coordinate and accompany teams to competitions, managing logistics and athlete engagement. 

Event Support: Lead and support artistic swimming classes, clinics, and camps. Organize meet entries, attendance, and results; coordinate MAC-hosted competitions. 

System Management: Use ISS for coach cards and TeamSnap for scheduling and squad communication. 

Engage with Members: Promote participation in aquatics department programs and events. 

Emergency Response: Handle injuries, illnesses, and emergencies according to safety protocols. 

Budget Compliance: Submit accurate expense reports and assist with equipment purchasing. 

Team Collaboration: Attend staff meetings and assist in developing the annual competition schedule. 

 

What You’ll Bring

Certification Readiness: CPR and First Aid certifications, and CCP Level 1 or ability to obtain within 90 days. 

Health & Safety Compliance: Completion of concussion management training within 60 days. 

USAAS Membership: Coaching member in good standing with USA Artistic Swimming. 

Competitive Experience: Background in competitive artistic (synchronized) swimming. 

Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with platforms like TeamSnap, ISS, and common office software. 

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written skills to build strong relationships with swimmers and families. 

Motivational Drive: Proven ability to motivate and encourage athletes of varying skill levels. 

Team-Oriented Mindset: Ability to collaborate effectively with coaching staff and club members. 

Physical Capability: Able to meet the physical demands of coaching, including swimming, standing, and demonstrating techniques.

Seattle Cascades Synchro Club 

  Our Masters Artistic Swimming team in the Seattle, WA area is seeking a coach.  We are looking for a mature, reliable coach with Artistic Swimming experience and a positive attitude who would like to work with adult artistic swimmers.  The coach is responsible for running practices, coaching routines, and coaching at local and national competitions.  Our team currently practices for 2-4 hours per week. Our team members handle the administrative details in running the team so that is not required of the coach. 

 

We offer a fun and dedicated team environment, professional development (CPR/First Aid and Coaches Certification), a competitive hourly compensation (amount based on experience) and paid travel expenses and a stipend for competitions.  Additional optional opportunities for more hours include choreography and coaching an adult beginner class if these are areas of interest for a coach.

Position Summary 

We are seeking a Full-Time Artistic Swimming Coach to join our growing club in the Houston area. The coach will lead coaching for multiple age-group teams and assist the Head Coach with both administrative and coaching responsibilities. The ideal candidate is passionate about artistic swimming, demonstrates strong leadership and communication skills, and works effectively with athletes, parents, and fellow coaches. Candidates with a proven track record as former artistic swimmers and coaches will be given strong consideration. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead coaching for multiple age-group and/or non-competitive teams, including choreography and technical training.
  • Conduct six days of practice per week during after-school hours.
  • Travel with teams to competitions as required.
  • Create and maintain coach cards and training plans.
  • Assist the Head Coach with administrative and coaching duties.
  • Communicate efficiently with swimmers and parents, and host regular team meetings.
  • Obtain USA Artistic Swimming (USAAS) judging certification and serve as a judge at local and regional competitions. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Minimum 5 years of coaching experience in artistic swimming. 
  • Previous experience as an artistic swimming athlete preferred. 
  • Coaching experience for multiple age groups.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to teach basic gymnastics, dance, and swimming (preferred).
  • Judging experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Full professional proficiency in English (spoken and written).
  • Must hold or be willing to obtain
