USAAS Statement on Abuse in Artistic Swimming
by USA Artistic Swimming
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Artistic Swimming is aware of the recent New York Times article highlighting abuse across the world in the sport of artistic swimming. We stand behind athletes who are brave enough to come forward, change the narrative and start a dialogue about these issues. Fostering the growth of our athletes in a healthy and safe environment is at the foundation of our organization's philosophy and abuse of any kind is not tolerated. While challenges still exist, we are proud of the steps taken by our staff and organizational leaders. We are committed to responsibly addressing these concerns and leading the sport forward. We will outline more specific step in the near future.
If anyone has any concerns about a training environment or athlete experience, we have many resources and avenues to report and correct the issue. If you would like to report a SafeSport issue, please contact safesport@usaartisticswim.org.
If you would like to contact an athlete representative, the Athletes Executive Council is committed to supporting and hearing your concerns. You can find more information about your athlete representatives here and they can be reached at aec@usaartisticswim.org.
