Junior National Team Announces Training Athletes Selection Results
by USA Artistic Swimming
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Artistic Swimming recently held a virtual selection event to increase the number of Junior National Team athletes by two. The selection event increased the number of total Junior National Team athletes in training to eight and affords the squad the opportunity to train with enough athletes to comprise a full team.
Elisa Brunel (Austin Angelfish) and Emily Ding (Santa Clara Aquamaids) were invited to join the team after finishing with the top two scores. Brunel recorded a score of 190 through ten skills and Ding carded a score of 187.6. A full list of the results can be found HERE.
Lara Teixeira, High Performance Manager, was impressed with the talent and turnout for the event, especially during a pandemic.
"Thank you to all athletes who participated. Your hard work throughout the pandemic was displayed throughout the virtual selection. Seeing your skill level excites everyone at USA Artistic Swimming because we know the future of our national team program is in a good place with all of you involved."
The Junior National Team is currently comprised of four official team members and four training team members. The official team of no less than ten athletes will be selected from the Senior/Junior National Team selection event held April 11, 2021 in Oro Valley, Ariz.
