COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- The USA Artistic Swimming Collegiate Championship is making its way back to Columbus, Ohio in 2022, the organization announced this weekend. Next year’s championship will be held at the home of the Buckeyes in the Bill and May McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. This will be the eighth time the championship is hosted in Columbus, the last time being in 2017 when the Buckeyes captured the Overall Institution Award in their home pool.

In July 2007, the facility was praised in Aquatics International Magazine. The publication called it “... a state-of-the-art competition pool loaded with the latest technology sets the university apart from the competition.” The entire facility, including the Mike Peppe Natatorium and the Ron O’Brien Diving Well, holds nearly 1.56 million gallons of water. McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion, opened in late 2005, has hosted the championship three other times in 2008, 2015 and 2017. The facility has been host to several other high-profile aquatic events such as the Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championships, NCAA Men's Swimming & Diving National Championshipand USA Diving Summer and Winter Championship.

The 14th largest city in America is arguably most well-known as being home to one of the largest collegiate institutions in the country. However, Columbus is also well-known for its Short North Arts district with endless dining and entertainment options and a sprawling downtown that features state-of-the-art facilities and arenas. Visitors will have plenty to enjoy.

"With a world-class venue and passionate community support, Columbus has an amazing footprint for premier swimming events," said Linda Shetina Logan, Greater Columbus Sports Commission Executive Director. "We're thrilled to continue our strong relationship with USA Artistic Swimming and can't wait to work alongside The Ohio State University to provide another exceptional experience for athletes, coaches, fans and judges at the Collegiate Championship."

We are so excited to have the opportunity to host the US Collegiate Championships again next spring!  The event staff at Ohio State is second to none and I know the competitors will be provided an amazing experience. Plus, for us, there is nothing better than swimming in front of the best fans in the land,” Holly Vargo-Brown, Ohio State’s head coach, said.
